Class 172 Turbostar DMU

172 LOROL and LM

Full colour, pre-cut vinyl bodyside vinyl overlays.

The Class 172 is a lightweight variant on the Class 170 and was introduced in 2010 for London Overground for services on the Gospel Oak - Barking line. Subsequent batches were built in 2011 for Chiltern Railways and London Midland. The units feature smaller B5000 bogies, similar to the Voyager units and a modified exhaust arrangement.

Electra's kits are designed to convert the Graham Farish Class 170.

For correct bogies, a Dapol or Graham Farish Class 220 trailer car and power unit would required in conjunction with the 170 body and underframe moundings.

172 side on

Unlike many of our other vinyl packs, the donor bodyshells require no stripping, making these ideal for the beginner. Just a little painting around the nose end and roof is all that's needed!

The London Midland Class 172/2 and 172/3 units have a revised front profile end with a corridor connection, similar to an Electrostar. Full instructions are enclosed how to achieve this conversion.
